Jubilee's Mission, Vision & Values

Being clear about why we exist and the vision for the church

Our Mission

To build a diverse church of 600 world changing disciples in order to glorify God and make Him known to the world.

Our Vision

Go

We want to see all the church go and share the good news of Jesus Christ with thousands of residents in our area. We want to send many across the nation and the nations on short-term and longer-term missions.

Gather

We want to be a community where everyone can belong. A vibrant, healthy community gathering all generations, socio economic groups and many nationalities. A healing community that includes the hurting, the depressed, the frustrated and the confused. A place where they can find love, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness, guidance, encouragement and purpose.

Grow

We want to see members grow into world changing disciples of Jesus. We want to see children, young people and adults develop into spiritual maturity, living out purposeful lives. We want to see every believer baptised and seeking to apply Biblical truth to real life situations and relationships and be full of God's Spirit.

Give

We want to see members give themselves in the service of others. We want to be a resource centre that provides teaching, training, coaching and counselling and serve the churches in our area. We want to be 'salt and light' in our community, as agents of positive change providing care for the vulnerable.

Glorify

We want to see our services and gatherings full of thankful, vibrant, joyful praise and worship and passionate prayer that glorifies our Heavenly Father.

Why not come and join the adventure?

Our Culture

Although written over 2000 years ago we love the Bible and believe it is as relevant now has it ever has been.  Our values reflect the Bible and set the culture in the church.

We see the Bible as inspired by God and therefore authoritative in shaping what we believe, how we try to live our lives, and how we shape the ministry and values of Jubilee Church.

We start with two simple yet profound things Jesus taught, and our shorthand for these passages is Loving God, Loving Others and Loving Life...

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.

The Great Command : Matthew 22:37-39

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

The Great Commission : Matthew 28:19-20

Our Values

We are keen that the culture of the church and its values are shaped by the wisdom found in the Bible. These values are...

Welcome

We want to be a welcoming church. We want to help newcomers quickly feel at home. Why? Because we believe there is a big welcome in the heart of Jesus for everyone. It's also why we value the gift of hospitality.

Grace

We feel the gospel of grace shapes every aspect of our life as a church. This means we believe God accepts us just as we are but loves us so much that He wants us to be transformed into the best we can be. Grace is especially worked out in our high regard for good and godly relationships in the Church.

Bible-based and open to the Holy Spirit in our worship

We feel the Bible to be our authoritative guide in all matters of faith and practice. In addition, when we come together to worship, we seek both the freedom and the order that are given by the Holy Spirit. We seek both passionately and in balance.

Prayer

We feel prayer is vital and fundamental to all we do. We encourage personal prayer but also believe corporate prayer makes a powerful church.

Excellence

We feel excellence honours God and inspires people, but perfectionism doesn't. Therefore, we seek to do our best, learn from our mistakes, and evaluate our effectiveness. We are open to constructive criticism, and we aim to pursue excellence but not extravagance.

Stewardship

We feel we should be good stewards of the resources God gives us individually and corporately. One way we show this is through giving financially to the church in proportion to our resources. The trustees of the church also seek to steward the church's money with wisdom and faith.

Partnership

We welcome fellowship with all Christians. We love to work in partnership and want to do this with a confident humility – confident in who we are and humble enough to recognise God is at work in others in different ways.

Leadership

We feel good and godly leadership is invaluable for a healthy and thriving church. We encourage teams that have leaders with a desire to serve and empower others.

Fruit and Fun!

We want to grow in what the Bible calls the fruits of the Holy Spirit – that is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. If joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, we want to be known for our joy and this shapes our desire to try and have fun while building the church!

We believe these values are inspired!

Our Beliefs

We are about building the church in our generation, but to do that well we value the historic creeds of the Christian Church. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance and uphold the Evangelical Alliance Statement of Faith.

We are also part of the Commission network of Churches and as such seek to build its values into Jubilee.

We also seek to work positively with other churches in Farnham and value partnership. We are part of Farnham Churches Network, and play a key role bring Farnham Churches together to impact our town.

Our Story

A great adventure full of gratitude to God for His goodness

For those interested here is a little background on Jubilee Church...

In the 1960s, Terry Virgo (a pastor on the South Coast of England) began to develop a team of people to serve other churches, that would later be called Newfrontiers. For many years, the Newfrontiers group of churches ran a very successful summer Bible camp called Stoneleigh Bible Week. Over 20,000 people, young and old, camped together for a week- spending time in worship, seminars, and enjoying getting to know others from churches around the world.

In 2001, Newfrontiers began establishing new churches around the UK and the world – and Jubilee was part of this missional thrust. In January 2002, a small group of Christians began meeting together in homes in Farnham to pray. Leaders were identified and the small group grew until it was necessary in September 2002 to start meeting on Sunday mornings at Farnham Sixth Form College – Jubilee Church Farnham had officially begun! During 2003, church membership was introduced and a separate charitable trust was instituted to handle the church finance. Jubilee Church became part of Churches Together in Farnham and members of the Evangelical Alliance, embracing the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith.

In 2004, four elders were appointed- Sean Gubb, Bob Peet, Dave Berry and Ken Johnson- and the responsibility for the church was handed from the Beacon Church to this group of leaders. Since 2004, Jubilee has grown both numerically and in its relationships with other churches in Farnham and the surrounding area. It has taken on various members of staff, launched numerous ministries and in 2006 moved its Sunday meetings to Weydon School. In 2009, Jubilee Church established offices and midweek activities at the Weydon Christian Centre. In 2010, Ken Johnson stood down from the eldership team and moved to Cambridge. Ric Garvey was also appointed as an elder. In 2011, the legal status of the church changed from a Charitable Trust to a Charitable Company and Jubilee Church became custodians of Weydon Christian Centre.

In 2012, Steve Delves was appointed as an elder having been previously been employed as Assistant Pastor. Additionally, as part of a 10-year review there was a growing belief that we should start a second congregation in a neighbouring town- Bordon. In January 2014, pioneered by Dave and Bridget Berry, we started a midweek group to pray and seek God about this possibility. This led to monthly services starting on Easter Sunday 2014 and weekly services from September 2014.

In 2014, having completed his Moorlands Bible College degree, Pete Hewlett was employed full time as a Youth and Children's Pastor. In 2016, both Ric Garvey and Dave Berry left their corporate careers to focus on the leadership of the church. Additionally, 2016 has been a key year in establishing the vision of Jubilee. Rather than seeing our congregation in Bordon as a separate church plant, it was agreed that Jubilee is one church that operates across various locations. January 2017 saw the official launch of a third location for Jubilee Church- Aldershot. Led by Steve and Amber Delves, together with a core group of existing Jubilee members, we are now one church meeting in three locations. In March 2019 Pete Hewlett got married to Mim and moved to Woking and left the staff.

In April 2019 John Fellowes was appointed as an elder to serve with Dave Berry in the Bordon site. In September 2019 Nathan Smith-Rogers was appointed an elder in Farnham to join the team with Sean and Ric. Simon Berger was appointed an elder in the Aldershot site in preparation for the next development our our journey.

In January 2020 we saw a milestone moment when Steve and Amber Delves and Simon and Lou Berger made the big step of faith to transition our Aldershot site into Hope Church. On Sunday 26th Jan 2020 at a great celebration Commissioning Service, Hope Church was birthed to begin ministry into Aldershot.

In 2023 we embarked a big refurbishment project upgrading our building into a cafe style hall from which we can run multiple new ministries.

In January 2024 we saw another milestone as elders were appointed in our Bordon site and in April 2024 Jubilee Church Whitehill and Bordon become our second church plant named LifeSpring Church with a separate charitable trust – the church meets in an area called Blackwater Valley, hence the name.

In September 2024 Tobi Oludipe was appointed as a elder in Jubilee Church
